So it’s been awhile….and believe it or not, I love to write. But I tend to do it very late at night in a journal where I can just spit out what’s on my mind and close it up in a drawer where no one will see it! But my blog has been terribly neglected due to many life events, and it’s probably time to get back in the saddle. State Street Design is still going strong, thanks to all my wonderful friends , family, and customers. You have all really helped with the adjustments I have had to make with my life this past year. I am better than ever and really enjoying every minute!! New products to browse all the time and new faces what seems like every day. Looking forward to a possible storefront in the future and trying to get ideas on that. Feeling like I need to get through the holidays before that can really be on my plate though!! But stay tuned…
Speaking of holidays…wow, they are right around the corner. Place your custom orders sooner than later!!!
With warm thoughts,
Stacy

Cleaning your “Mod Mom” necklace or bracelet July 5, 2008
Since we are in mid summer, and my own jewelry is starting to look yucky, I figured you might be wondering the best way to shine up your items. In particular the personalized name necklaces can be tricky…
You can clean the chain with a polishing cloth or regular jewelry cleaner. The best way to shine the discs is to use a piece of steel wool. Yes, I know it sounds a little abrasive, but it works!! Just rub it gently and it will be like new!!
Kindest Regards!!

Summertime Odds and Ends July 5, 2008
Hope you are all enjoying your summer! Hard to believe it’s already July. Thought I’d update you on a few new things. First of all I am happy to report that I have completed a new room at the studio, so that means I have room for more inventory! YEAH! I now have some really darling little tutu’s that make for some really great pictures!! They are also so fun for dress up!! They can be customized and personalized which makes for a great gift for any little girl. I also have some of the most beautiful and unique stationery by Kristin Elise Design…(www.kristinelisedesign.com) for sale. You can also have these customized and are selling well as gifts!! It’s worth stopping by to check out the new goodies, and of course I have lots of new jewelry as always on hand. Call me!!! 309-319-0143. I’m taking appointments for parties as well, so get a group of girls together and come hang out with me some evening. It makes for a really fun girls night!! Bottles of wine, chocolate, jewelry and fun times!! What’s better? Oh…and did I mention hostess discounts?
Friends May 23, 2008
Just wanted to take a moment to appreciate the friendships I have developed over the last few years through my business. I really love putzing around at the studio with all of you. I enjoy listening to your stories and advice about life, and like to share my thoughts and opinions. And of course I love dressing you up in more jewelry than any woman really needs…but hopefully will enjoy over and over again!
One of the best friends I have made through my endeavors is a fellow designer. She has a design your own bag studio across town. It’s so much fun to go in and pick your fabrics and styles to create your own unique bag. She also designs some of the cutest baby blankies, bibs and burpees that you’ve ever seen! She has inspired me and given me the confidence to just do my own thing. I don’t tell her “thanks” enough, but I appreciate her friendship beyond words. We have many of the same customers, but just in case you’ve never visited her website…take some time and check it out… It’s such a fun place to go!! www.bugaboobaby.com
You might recognize some of the beads on the bags she has. We work together on some of the designs. What’s better than bags and jewelry? It’s something we just can’t get enough of!!
Enjoy.

Time? May 19, 2008
Ok…so I haven’t “blogged” in weeks, and I swore if I was gonna start a blog, I was gonna really do it…like everyday!
Let me ask a question…Where does time go? I mean really? I wake up every morning with lists of things to do. Some important, some just wishful thinking, but at the end of the day there was inevitably not enough time. Now, I’m not one to go to bed at 9:00 either. There are countless nights that I am still awake in the wee hours of the morning with my list in front of me…still not finished. I know I’m not the only one doing this. I guess it’s on my mind today, because I really would like to stop sweating the small stuff! It’s nice to have everything perfect, but not necessary. I suppose that if the laundry isn’t done, it wouldn’t hurt us to wear a shirt again! Or if the flowers don’t get planted this weekend, there is always next. Would love to live more in the moment instead of having my mind race ahead to “what’s next?”
Don’t worry…your orders will still be done in a timely fashion! This is just something in my thoughts today. So many goals and so little time. In all honesty, I think I’d be bored without all this “stuff” to do. It just wouldn’t be me if I weren’t worried about getting it done. Someday when I’m rich and famous I will have a perfect assistant to help with business stuff…(anyone interested?!), but until then…Oh geez..what time is it? Gotta RUN!!!
Breathe In, Breathe Out!

Hello to all my lovely State St. shoppers!!! May 7, 2008
Hello,
I’m so excited to FINALLY have some new images on my website. I hope to see all of you soon at my studio in Bloomington, but for my out of town shoppers, this update is huge. The old images are still great, but my newest designs have a different edge to them.
There’s lots of news to report about State Street Design. I think most of you know that I have a shoppable space on Main St. in Bloomington that is open by appointment. I am hoping in the fall to have some hours of operation, but for now I am doing by appointment only. My schedule is very flexible though!
I will be planning an Open House weekend (to be announced) when there will be more of a “lounge” atmosphere over at the studio and you can all stop by for some treats and promos throughout the weekend.
I am carrying some lines of tees at the studio that include inky dink and uncommonly cute for kids, Unitees and Stella Rocco for women, and 2 Chix maternity for preggers! They are going fast, so I will be re-ordering for summer and fall soon.
I’ve been busy developing styles for weddings, kids and personalized keepsakes. I’m hoping that you will all think of me for those last minute gift ideas for birthdays, end of school year gift, and any other special occassions.
In the next few months, I will be creating a “design your own” space in the studio that will be perfect for all my shoppers that like to envision their own pieces. I will still put the pieces together for you, but you will be able to pick out your own charms, chains and beads to go into your piece. In many cases I will be able to put them together for you while you shop.
Well, I don’t want to overwhelm you with news, but please check back often to find out what’s going on!
In the meantime, be sure to “make a statement” and accessorize!!!!
Blessings,
Stacy
